Question About Monoshock: Which way increases preload?

Currently my bike has the monoshock set something like this,
,
with the graded adjuster about 3 settings away from fully preloaded.

My question is this: in the manual, it seems like Kawi is suggesting turning the adjuster so the spring is fully extended increases preload. This doesn't seem to make sense to me, as all the experiences I've had with springs, the greater the compression on them, the stiffer they are, which would translate to more preload, correct?

Is there something I'm missing here, or is my bike actually on one of the lowest preload settings? Thanks..

You are two clicks away from full preload, just as you thought.

The urge to buy terrorizes

Ok, thanks. In the manual the illustration makes it look the opposite, so I was confused. Thanks.

Adjust rear suspension spring preload with rear suspension fully extended... It's just easier that way.

Turn the adjuster WHILE the spring is fully extended.
