Gear Shifter Lever Sticking Question

Yesterday I was riding and I down shifted to 2nd gear and than to 1st, at the lights. After that I could not feel the shifter with my toes and looked down. The shifter was still in the lowest position and did not come to the position it supposed to. When I moved the bike with a little throttle the lever came to its position. This happened 2 times. Bike seems to works fine but this freeks me a little. Is there anyone had the same problem or do you have any idea what is the reason for this?

Garage
Unbolt the gear lever and put some quality waterproof grease like Belray on the main bolt shaft.
while you at it put some in the rose joints (ball and socket) of the adjustment arm.

I was worried that springs in the clutch may be the cause. I will try to grease things you said.
