Pilot Road 2 being discontinued?

I asked my friend at 3rd Wheel Trailers to order a rear PR-2 for me (he installs and balances them). His supplier no longer has them in 160/60ZR17.

I can still get one from canadasmotorcycle.ca $187.79 with free shipping but there is a threat of a Postal strike tomorrow (actually, a lock out)

Does anyone here know if the PR2 is, in fact being discontinued?

My dealer told me the same thing, I think he even said they had already been discontinued, but there were still some places selling older ones.

Last time I had tires put on I went with the PR4's. Supposed to be better grip & longer life than the PR2s and PR3s.

Forget the PR2 Smiley & go for the 3 or 4 because they cost about the same, last ALOT longer, & they will match up with your front PR2.

PR2 has weird wear characteristics, upgrade to PR3, PR4.

That is an odd statement. I have used two rear and one front PR2, and I really like the handling. Like all tires with a similar profile, they do "fall in" a bit when worn to a flatter profile, but so have all tires I've tried.

I will likely move to the PR3 or PR4 but I still have a good PR2 front tire and I simply want to match front and rear.

Looks like the 3 or 4 WILL match up with your 2 OK.

Forty years away from 2 wheel fun. Sure is great to be back smelling the roses!!!

Yes, I'm not too concerned about it. I have used different tires before and they're not bad if the profiles are the same.
