Lightbulb Broken mode/reset button made worse

After 2 years of a broken reset button on my speedometer I figured I'd take a stab at fixing it.

Took the shortcut of pulling the rubber boot out without disassembling. Well that was a bit of a mistake, while pulling the boot out I tore the skirt off it. That's no good, but damage was done and figured may as well continue on.

Sprayed some CRC electronics cleaner down to the switch, multiple times, let it dry, kept working the button, etc. But the reset button still refuses to work.

So now not only do I have no functional reset switch, I have nothing to put back into the hole since I ruined the boot.

I plan on filling the void with RTV and smoothing it out with an ice cube. Or maybe I'll 3D print a plug to RTV in there.

Moral of the story... I'm too barbaric with rubber boots.

There have been postings on this forum of how to and ways of resolving this problem, been quite a while. Typically it is a carbon contact and oxide has built up on the PC board, light scotch brite will remove oxide, however best to find those posts.
