Air filter cleaning day

Not one of my favorite maintenance items but, it has to be done. I don't disconnect the tank. Just give yourself some slack on the vent hoses, lift the tank, and rotate clockwise. It is perfectly stable where it sits, the bungees are simply my anal tendencies.

With a bike that clean, I'm surprised that the air filter was even dirty! I did my filter on Sunday and here's a view of the air box after I replaced the cleaned filter.
I'm not exactly anal about a clean bike, but I will give it the yearly cleanup soon, honest.

I do remove the gas tank as I'm concerned about breaking that fibre gas tank fitting off.

A few of the inmates have broken the fitting the fuel-line goes into, doing what you're doing. Requires a new fuel-pump most of the time.

VERY spendy....

Removing the fuel line takes a 'twist' in the fitting w/ a slot screwdriver, then a push on the fitting and a pull on the fuel-line.

Understood, and I do appreciate the caution. I was meticulous in watching that connection as I slowly turned the tank, which doesn't mean I was in the clear but, I triple checked every inch of movement both ways. Can't just lift the tank up and twist it around, just have to kind of rotate it. Maybe I am lucky.

Well, Rick, I don't know about lucky, but you are certainly brave!

I siphon the tank dry to help with the weight when I remove it by myself.

Yeah, I'm in no way trying to beat the odds. If you look in the first two photos, you can see the braided fuel line at the base of the air box. Not a lot of tension nor major forces on it. The base of the fuel tank is actually forward of its normal resting place, so I don't have it yanking on the line.
