coolant smell on startup

Not sure If I'm going crazy, but I get a whiff or two of coolant when I start the Versys up in the garage. I check the overflow bottle regularly, and there is no change in level. Engine seems to run fine, as well.

I have installed a thermobob, and also have checked those hoses for signs of leaks, etc.

Next step I guess will be to pull the fairing, and check the radiator/radiator cap for signs of oil.

Other than that, does anyone have any thoughts?

When did you install ThermoBob? It may well be residual coolant cooking on exhaust and engine.

What's the ethanol content of your gasoline? Is it premium fuel?

What effect does putting ethanol content into regular gas have to do with a coolant smell?

Exclamation

The smell of corn fuel burning could possibly be mistaken for coolant, especially after ethanol gasoline has been sitting for a while with resulting phase separation... I still believe it was likely due to coolant residue on engine and exhaust. Check your ThermoBob installation for leaks.

Thermo Bob has been in for over a year. I do run basic gas with ethanol. I think I'll recheck all the fittings and check the radiator cap this week. Will report back in a few days, depending on weather and work.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Finally got to look into this. Had a loose hose clamp on the thermaBob outlet hose. No other leaks/weeps, etc. detected.
