Air Jackets? Do they work?

The thread title should have read: AirBag Jackets?

Read this first:
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/airba...bag-jacket.htm

I am interested in becoming as safe as I can, if I continue motorcycling, so I am interested. This technology and product has been around for about 10 years, so they have at least sold, but data is hard to find. Anyone have any information for me? BTW, the jacket in the photo isn't bad, but that helmet?
More info:

And Alpinestars Racing suit:

I, for one, am very glad to see you at least considering keeping on riding.
Courage, my friend. Your body and mind are both healing well I think.

Thanks, I haven't sold it yet. I got released to ride yesterday and will probably go for a ride this weekend. BTW, here are two posts I should have searched; this topic has been on here before:

I own an Impact Jacket from www.impactjackets.com.
I have had it for 2 years. Always wear it. Never needed it. Ride almost every day, rain or shine.
1)It is a mesh jacket, so it stays cool.
2)Unfortunately it acts as an air filter and gets dirty pretty quickly. I wash it about once a month. I bought the Bright Yellow one. It is still bright yellow, although a little stained at the cuffs and neck.
3)Repacking the airbag is tricky after washing.
4)The waterproof zip-out liner still allows water to enter along the front zipper.
5)The "Butt" zipper does not match either of my riding pants.
6)Side pockets are pretty big. I can carry a plastic pint of water in each when i go out. The waterproof inner pocket is big enough for a small camera and a phone.
7)The clip that attaches to the bike, to activate the air-bag, can scratch your paint up. it is just a carabiner on a coiled wire.
8)The CE protection in the elbows slide around a little.

Element, Hope you stay on biking.

Getting my dealer to show a sample of an air bag jacket from Japan.
They have mesh and waterproof types.

I just spoke to this company, very helpful information. Thanks guys, I do hope to keep on biking, both pedaling and moto. This could help my peace of mind. BTW, the vest is only $250.00, and can be worn over another jacket, just order a size up.

The circumstances of my life are so very different than yours that I didnít feel qualified to say anything that might have influenced your decision... but I think youíre making a good call
