Well street parking finally got me...

Came out this morning to find this...

Thank god for crash bars though! For some reason the windshield broke, but beyond that there is no damage to the body or controls.

Honestly I knew this day would come eventually, which is exactly why my city bike is a Versys with crash bars and hand guards. Every time I park the Ducati in the city I can't relax or sleep at night.

Anyway just wanted to share my morning madness...

The dead s h i t that knocked the bike over probably got the s h i t s and kicked it instead of feeling guilty like a normal person and doing something about it.

Exclamation

Wasn't it that black VW that's still there, with a dent on its front bumper's right corner? She obviously hit your Versys as she was parking.

You in DC....you are lucky it is still there....provided you are in DC proper.

You are joking here aren't you????

She did it?
Obviously or obviously not?

GiantAntCowboy ...that must've been a bad feeling to walk out in the morning & see you bike laying down like that, & it's so difficult for me to grasp the mentality of whoever did it & just left it there like that, but l suppose that's what the drawbacks of living in a big City bring!

I'm 90% sure that VW was parked there when I parked the night before...

I do live in DC proper, in fact I don't even live in the nicest neighborhood... But ultimately this is why I lean towards older used bikes of a confusing variety. Bike thieves aren't generally trying to steal Versys 650's haha!

And the crash bars are a real saver when parking in the city..

thanks for the support. It was definitely a ****ty feeling to see your bike laid out like a dead animal.

As far as damage, the windshield and one of the mounting brackets broke, but thats about it.

Hailing from NYC I've dealt with this pain a couple of times now. Suggestions- Park at a steeper angle, making the front tire the contact point should someone get too close, and conversely the back tire for people in front. That siad- Find a nice spot on the edge of a garage entrance, say, to elimate the rear car and 50% of your risk. I also have a velcro strap holding the front brake on to prevent roll.
