Falling Fuel Prices

Don't know about prices for regular fuel in other parts of the US or other countries, but while out and about today I found regular priced at $1.77 per Texas gallon. Not bad at all.

What's a Texas gallon you ask? It's exactly the same as any other US gallon, it just thinks it's bigger.

Not bad at all. Is that a Texan gallon of genuine locally sourced ethanol-free gasoline?

Here it just went down again to $4.12 per US gallon of regular 87, and $4.69 for premium 91 ethanol-free.

Last I saw, gas was $2.15 per gallon. I did pay $1.77 not long ago thanks to $0.40 off from Dillons.

Upstate New York: within a fifteen minute drive I see a low of 2.15 to 2.27 for 87. One local store, Stewart's, has 91 octane, ethanol free; I think it's about 2.50 a gallon but am not sure right now.
Those are good prices for New York; I'm sure the price goes up once you get near the city.

Gas is going down because the cost of a barrel of crude is going down but one thing I noticed, the cost of a quart of oil is NOT going down.

It's $2.06 in SW Missouri & just a few cents more in NW Arkansas.

In Utah gas runs $2.70 for regular, $3.00 for premium. We don't seem to get the rapid or extreme swings in price that other places see.

Just paid $3.15 for 91 Octane out here in SoCal. Not too long ago we were paying over $4.00 a gallon

Gas here in Florence is about $2.35, while 30 miles W in Casa Grande it's $1.87.

(And when I left, Kelowna gas was $1.24 a litre! Of course... that's only $1.24 CANADIAN...!)

Well if Bernie or Clinton get elected that is about what we will be paying.

Yeah because under Bush it was $4+ and under Obama it's $1.77.

When in doubt, blame a politician!

You are not stupid enough to think that a POTUS has control over gas prices.....and the ability to make them fall.

But be sure they can raise tax on fuel, and everything else to fund their give-a-way programs.

Ask yourself one question....a barrel of oil costs X....EVERYWHERE. Yes the price is on the US $ but the cost is the same....now why would it be so much more in the land of EH and hockey? Could it be they pay more in tax on....well everything then those in the US.

Listen to Bernie....he in his own words said he is going to raise taxes, same with Mrs.

Politics in any nation is screwed up and they make their living giving the shaft to the middle class whatever that is. Rest assured they will at least TRY to raise the tax on fuel.

Sorry for the hijack....and I am off the soap box now.

No, "I am" not; hence the sarcastic remark.

Yes, on billionaires who currently pay tax rates far less than their secretaries. Are you one of those? If so, will that increase on earnings above several million a year curtail your spending on fuel?

They probably should. We could use the money to incentivize alternative fuel research. Even if you're "dumb enough" to deny that atmospheric carbon levels trap heat, you should recognize that nothing lasts forever. And even if we don't destroy the environment beyond repair, our offspring will depend on some form of energy to get by. Better to have it ready to go than wait until it's required, because then it will be too late.

Be thankful that previous generations weren't as self absorbed as ours...

You done and did it now boy.

At least we now know that only billionaires buy gas....and some people think that taxes will only be raised on the other guy....you know those people with lots of money....like those that pass the laws...

hang on a sec...you mean they would raise the tax on their golf buddies?

I can see it now....congressman and his "billionaire" friend riding along in their Gulfstream on the way for a round of golf.....hay I am going to vote to raise your taxes buddy...you don't mind do you....by the way are you and Martha still coming over for dinner at the house on the virgin islands tonight....I will send the plane for them.

under bush it was due to the economic collapse following 9-11 affecting the value of a barrel

but presidential policies do affect commodity futures (speculations).

and presidential tax policies (passed by the congress of course) to directly raise prices. federal policies that affect the states such as pulled road funding can also cause the states to raise fuel taxes to make up for it.

its a very tangled web of money pouring out of our pockets across the country.

I support eliminating our income tax in favor of a flat sales tax

Keep in mind the income tax was "only" 3% at the time it came to being....really how bad could it get...this was long before the 16th.

Fookin idiots....repeal the 16th amendment now.
