New, used, 09, 10? who knows

Well here in Ok, it looks like i can pick up a new left over 09 for $4999 otd (would need to drive an hour or so). There arn't many used V's in Ok to speek of, and the one's i find aren't priced well enough to make it worth it. For instance, $4500 for a stock 08 with 6k miles.

Ok to confuse things more, 2010 bikes, if anyone has one in stock, are going for over $7k. I would love to have the new styling but 2k seems a bit steep for some different body work.

What's your opinions?

btw I'll introduce myself also, i've been riding for a number of years, had the 650r in 07, moved on to an 08 chr600rr now i have an 06 drz400e that i dual sport on. Planning on selling the drz to get the v.

Howdy from Hutto, TX.

I held out and bought my '10 in April for $7200 OTD but could have bought a blue '09 for much less. I lurked around this site before buying and from reading about vibration issues on the older models, decided to go for the '10 plus I like the way it looks. I'm at 1786 miles and have no complaints. Farkles added so far are a 44 tooth rear sprocket and I just installed a CalSci large windshield. My Givi rack should be here Wednesday.

That price is ridiculously low, I would drive for it, if I were you.

I just went through the same thing. I'd love a '10 for the slight improvements, but mostly for the black color. However, there's just not enough difference for me to justify the extra money. I got my '09 V's brand new for $4700+++. Great little bikes.

I have a green 09 V which I ride in NJ (1600 miles) and a 2010 V I ride in WV (200miles). They are both fine bikes, but the "buzz" at 4500 and 5500 rpm is more noticeable in the 2010. I got the 10 for $6500 plus tax, license. $5,900 plus tax, license for the 09. It's hard to pass up a year newer bike for $600. I looked at several more bikes, but decided the V would be best for the WV backroads where I run.

$5000 for a new 09 V is a very good price. I'd drive and get it, if it were me.

I think the buzz is the luck of the draw. My 2010 has no buzzing across the range. I do have the usual engine vibes but no buzzing of cowls or instrument panels etc.

Your money your choice..

but for me I couldn't see the extra cash for a 2010. I was in your boat as far as used prices, so for $800 more than used I went for a new 09. As far as driving an hour, how bad do you want one? I went 5 1/2 hours one way to Rockingham, NC to buy one last Sat. It was a long way but for $4798, I couldn't resist. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I just got a leftover '09 for a similar price. Like you, I couldn't find a used bike that made sense, given how cheap the new leftovers were. But my choice between a 2009 or a 2010 was easy, because to my eye the styling differences are insignificant. Neither bike looks particularly better than the other to me.

Looks -- the ultimate subjective personal experience.

Good luck whichever way you go, but keep in mind that $2,000 in spending money will take you a looooong way down the road.

Whitehorse Press is going out of business so it's time for a final sale. Signed copies of my book are now $10 with free shipping in the U.S. while they last.

Get the 09 and use the left over cash for gear or farkles or maybe get the little woman if there is one something nice to.

That's a much better price for a leftover 09 than i saw around seattle. I paid about that for a pristine 08 with only 1500 miles and versys side cases. In any case, i'm a big fan of buying behind the market.

Thanks for the opinions guys, I took a look at a couple bikes at my local dealer last night. They have a demo bike with 200 miles on it that they said they would do the same deal as the place i would half to drive to. But its still being sold as new so it would still have the warranty start at the day i buy it. They also had a used one with 800 miles on it, but they wouldn't work on it. So it looks like i'm just going to be waiting till the suzuki sells.
