You went from stock 5 clicks out to 7 clicks out? With rear preload at #3, my rebound damping is good at 10 clicks out from Softest, towards Hard. I would expect #4 preload to work well at 8 or even 9 clicks out on rebound damping.
My fork rebound damping was good at 1/2 turn out and maximum preload with stock 10W oil. (Its great now at 7/8 turn out with 13.25W oil, 5 psi air pressure and 3 turns out from max preload.)

I still have trouble understanding all of this. I weigh around 165 not geared up, mine is still factory settings. Where should I actually be or is it all personal pref?

Randy49, If I may

Don't worry to much about that
Ride the bike and eventualy, you will wonder if something can be done to get a different response from the suspension, at this point, strat fiddling with the different set up available

Only one rule is important, only one thing at the time, either damping or preload, not both of them at the same time ...

Good luck
