Bye V, bye Versys forum.

Guys,

It is with a somewhat heavy heart, that I must say goodbye, I traded in my blue V for a Honda Silver Wing. Despite my best efforts, I could not make the V comfortable for long distance riding. I bought the Baldwin seat, Speedys, lowering kit, footpeg lowering kit. Nothing could make the riding position more comfortable. The bike was top-heavy, I could not come to terms with the fact it did not have ABS.
I do alot of commuting on my bike in some of Los Angeles worst traffic, and my wrists are not what they used to be. I also have had several instances where-by I almost have been rear ended, and just barely moved out of the way in time. So I had to come to a decision about what my needs were versus what my V presented me with.
I decided on the Honda because it met my needs for comfort, lower center of gravity, its CVT trans, its power. The bike is fantastic, Honda builds a great product.
I would like to thank all of you, for a great resource, a great forum, a place to go when questions need answering. Thanks, GV09

Not sure how the Silverwing will help you prevent rear end collisions but all of the other reasons make sense to me.

You are right, Honda is top notch in their products IMHO. I considered Honda before buying the V, but there was no competition or similar product like the V. It was either sport tour, or supersport. Neither matched my interest.

I enjoy this forum as well with all the resources and opinions at the fingertip.

Good luck with your Silverwing, I bet it is one smooth ride!

Two wheels is Two wheels...That's the tie that binds.

Just happy to here you will be able to continue to enjoy riding.
The 'Silverwing' is one beautiful bike and That 'CVT tranny' should make a big difference in the rush hour traffic.
WOWSER!!! water cooled!!! 600cc parallel twin!!!! ...and I thought all 'scoots' where air cooled singles.

I read it will do 110mph and 0-60 in 6 seconds. 60 to 80 mpg too.
WHO KNEW!
And look at all that trunk/glove box space.
Me thinks I'm a bit jealous.
Your gonna have a blast on that machine. NO DOUBT.

Be well.
Ride safe.
Peace.

(PS....hope your riding togs match.....LOL)

I had a Silver wing for a couple of years. Enjoyed certain aspects of it, like the power, but never got better than 39 mpg. Storage is great, too. It is a long bike, though, with about a 63" wheel base, so the V is much more responsive in traffic. I kept thinking I was going to fall over forward with the stock seat, and there is nothing in front of you to take a hit of any kind. It is also very heavy with small wheels...stay on pavement!

Bought it for $4k, sold it two years later for $4k. It was a good experience. You will enjoy it a bunch, just different from the V. Good luck!

If you are going scooter, Silver Wing is the way to go. When I was living in WA i considered one. Fortunately I moved back to CO before I got it. My commute here is not bad and the mountain twisties are a lot of fun in the V.

Happy scooting, Gracie. I would want an automatic if I had to commute in LA traffic too!
