New 2009

I'm new to the site. This is my first post. Bought a V today as a 2nd bike. Looking forward to getting to know it. Couldnt beat the price. $5200 + tax and tags (no freight of set up bs). Now looking hard at the happy-trails panniers.

Just wanted to say hi to all

Thanks for the welcome! My other bike is a Buell Ulysses I purchased last fall. I'm sort of on this adventure bike kick right now. Leaving my garage to make room will be a 2007 Aprilia Tuono.

I just usually look in the garage and find it there.
Just kidding.

I really like the buell for the versatily and comfort. The price was right. Picked it up for 8k when buell went out of business.

My last several bikes have been 07 Aprilia Tuono, 05 Triumph Sprint, 03 Yamaha FZ1 and 00 Kawi ZRX. Moving from the naked / sport touring catagory to more of an adventure bike has been a breath of fresh air for me. Living in Western Washington its now pretty cool to not have to turn around when the road turns to gravel. All I can say is I really really like the feel of the Buell, but cant really compare it to other bikes in its class like the vstrom, GS, etc.

Hey GlowCat is that the Scorpion exo 700 neon? if so, how do you like it? how's the noise? how about ventilation?
I use a YELLOW hjc CL-SP, but I am looking into buying a new one. And that green one seems pretty cool and safe to me. (and I think you pay around 200 for it right?)

I used to have a Ulysses. Probably the best bike I ever owned. Handled great and was comfortable, even for my 6'5" frame. I sold it and bought a Buell 1125CR. Then I lost that bike to the infamous Nashville flood a few weeks ago.

So now I'm faced with looking for a bike. Repair costs to my house are on my dime since I had no flood insurance (I don't live in a flood plane, or so I was told, but the 5 feet of water in my garage and shop begged to differ).

Given my very limited budget, I am considering a Versys.

Here's a little clue as to how I rode my Ulysses. I'm hoping the Versys handles as well as the big Buell did.
