Thanks for the compliments folks.
Took it fairly easy today on the green tires thru the twisties at Deals Gap. Great place to break in a new motor by rolling on & off the throttle and bedding in the pads.
Rode about 200 miles and early indication is that it's everything I want. I'm on my 5th seat on my Versys 650 but the 1000's feels pretty decent for a stocker.....more time will tell. Kinda wish the bars had a tad more pullback to help my arthritic wrist but I love the rise & width.
All the miles I've put on our demo V1000's have been mostly on four lanes or the interstate. Man, this bike will rail thru the curves & don't scoot around. Very well planted.
The engine is silky smooth but have not twisted it over 6k or so, the transmission just clicks thru the gears.
TWA: I haven't sold anything, just added the new bike. I may end up selling my 650 but not for a while, just want to make sure the 1000 will fill all my wants/needs. I absolutely, positively love my 650....always have.
Only reason for buying the 1000 is because Momma is a short lady with bad knees and this is the only bike with bags that she can ride comfortably. My 650has Givis that don't work very well and the Connie I had didn't work.
No doubt the 650 is a little more flickable but this bike feels extremely light above walking speeds. I'm thinking I could run just as fast thru the Gap on it as I can the 650 although I may be more tired after a pass! :-)
All in all I'm stoked to have it,
