I just came across the same thing today. Here's the 2009 specs and rating. Pretty awesome.

Very interesting how the 08 and 09 compare to the 10. If one were to believe the ratings, one would think the they really screwed up the 10. Somehow, I doubt that's really the case.

Love my V but when I clicked on the survey and selected a bmw 650 GS to compare against the Versys, it is the 800cc twin, the V was ranked higher off road and since I have owned a 650cc bmw before would have to say that the bmw is way better off road, the bigger brother the 800 GS did rank ahead of V off road but not by much. Are all you V riders responding to thoses surveys lol

The only negative comments I have ever read about the V are about how it looks. And thats really just a subjective thing. I think they are purdy in a worthog sort of way.
