Just brought my new baby V home

I just pulled up about an hour ago with my new 2010 Versys. The bike had 0 on the odometer when I picked it up at the dealer. They uncrated it and built it this morning.

Had a 45 mile ride home from the dealer on Dallas freeways. Quite a bit different from my Goldwing, I can tell you that!

First impressions:
  • Quicker and more responsive than I expected
  • More low-end torque than I expected
  • A little buzzier (handlebars/footpegs) at 60 mph than I expected (remember, I am coming from a Goldwing)
  • Definitely needs a taller windscreen, wind noise and buffeting was brutal.
  • Seating position is interesting, I am going to give it some time to break in, but a seat rebuild might be in my future.

Here are some pics:

Thumbs up.

A lot different from a GW, but difference is good :-)

Congrats on the new ride. These bikes are unique and in a class by themselves.

I am still amazed how well they perform & how flickable they are in curves.

Ride Safe!

I have a GW also but trust me, the Versys is addicting!. I'm on my 2nd one. Could you send me some pictures of the lower part of the bike from the footpegs back? I build a center stand for the Versys and I'm anxious to see what mod's I'll have to make for the '010, if any. You can email me them at [email protected]. Oh, what dealer did you buy it from?

Thanks in advance
Don

Ride Safe!
I live in Dallas, we don't have curves. The only opportunity I have to "flick" is when I turn into my driveway.

"Had a 45 mile ride home".....It took me about 45 or 50 miles to get home also, and I only live 6 miles from the dealer

I believe there are several folks with Versys that live in the Carrolton area. If you can get away, I'll take you on some roads I know of that have curves. I live on the east side of Dallas in Royse City but can meet you up in Greenville where 380 meets 69 or wherever you like.

What I'd really like is for you to come out to my house and put your '010 on the lift and see if the center stand will fit it!

That might work! Might be later next week though. Got a busy weekend planned.

So I had 51 miles on her when we got home and I wanted to go ahead and change the oil. I cleaned my drain pan spotlessly, just so I could see if any shavings came out. Sure 'nuff, you can see tiny specs of silver on the bottom of the drain pan (black pan). Makes me glad I went ahead and put in fresh oil and filter. I will probably change it again at 500 miles, just to be safe, then every 3k after than. I would eventually like to move to Mobil 1. I am using the Purolator PureOne 14612 filter.

Congrats on the new '10. My '10 is about a month old and I agree about it needing a taller windshield. Both Givi and CalSci are supposed to have one for the '10 but I think they are not for sale until June.

Very cool. Seems like it was a bit of a journey for you to find the right bike. Glad you found what you were looking for.
