Fell Yesterday

Hello All!

So it has been forever since I've posted on here! Sorry about that...of course we all get busy and I sure did! My life has changed a bit since the last time I was actively posting...let's see, I now have a gorgeous wife, two children, work full-time, go to school part-time, and never ride.

I ended up putting the bike in storage years ago and didn't start riding it again until just last month. You see, one of my buddies kept on telling me that I need to get back out there and ride. Well, I finally did get back on the bike and have been enjoying riding again so much! Of course, I still am such a rookie and really need to develop my skills!

Hence, I dropped the bike at low speed last night and ended up scraping the heck out of it. As I was going down all I could think was "OH NO! Not my beautiful Versys!" Funny how I wasn't worried about myself at all.

So, a fair amount of cosmetic damage, but otherwise the V is fine. I'm totally okay too, I received some small cosmetic damage on my knees, but nothing bad thank goodness! The Mrs. wasn't too happy though and she was especially irritated when I kept on whining about how I had hurt the V. She said "I don't care about the bike! I care about you! If you complain one more time about scratching it, I'm going to get rid of it!" Gotta love her!

Anyway, I took some pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them. There is also a picture of my knees, nothing bad like I said, but if you are squeamish then I wouldn't look at that picture.

Also, if anyone could make a recommendation about how to fix the paint on the engine I would greatly appreciate it!

Oh, and I'm sorry because life is really busy at times. Sometimes I can get on here everyday and other times I'm lucky to get on here once a month. Okay, take care everyone and I wish all of you well!

-Bill

Yes, I am very happy that I wasn't hurt bad. I also feel lucky! I was only wearing jeans. Yep, paint and maybe a sticker on the back luggage case.

Glad you are back on the bike and that your spill wasn't too bad... As for your bike.. I'd personally bust out some sandpaper start with some 120<\= grit and work up to 500-1000 grit then plastibip or rattle can the top bit and rattle can gloss black for the radiator guard peace and trunkbox. As for engeen cover if you can't live with some scars/reminders you can replace it for Fairly cheap used from egay

yes im a guy.
Silvie=latin for. Of the forest /woods. Fox= Vulpine (also my middle name)

So glad to hear that you are OK.

As info, lots of summer riding gear on sale or closeout right now. May be a good time to reevaluate your thoughts on ATGATT.

Bike doesn't look too bad. All fixable without spending thousands.

I thought that guy did that on purpose to demo the bars until I saw his reaction in the second shot. Didn't make any sense to me, but then I saw a few patches of oil in the road. I think it washed his front tire.

Usually, when you see those kinds of accidents, it's higher HP bikes and you can hear them rev like hell when the rear tire starts spinning, just before they either low side or chop the throttle and get launched. This is neither a high HP bike, nor did it have that rev'd to the moon characteristic. Bars did a nice job of protecting though. I'll be looking into those.

Best wishes for the OP.

Two things come to mind

1. "That sh*t'll buff out
2. Body filler and paint make it what it ain't

The bike can be fixed (read: good excuse for upgrades). Just glad it wasn't any worse on you!

I have both the SW-Motech crash bars and BarkBusters featured in the videos and recommend them both highly.
