Congrats! Great looking bike, big smooth power right there. I used to own a '08 Versys, sold it and purchased a '06 FZ1. I do miss the Versys because it is such a nice practicable and well rounded machine (there's a reason I still visit this site). Having said that the liter size I4 bikes with upright ergo's are very nice, even if they are a little overkill!

Enjoy riding that beast! Just remember; be careful you are only seconds away from breaking the sound barrier.

Neato + congrats. Heck, your old rig does not look like it has many miles or much time on it.

I sold my KLR to a guy with a Harley at home plus a Yamaha of some kind. He stays in contact, and he says the other bikes never move, he just runs the KLR and it's well into 40,000 miles now.

I will be curious to hear about yor new bike, I don't know much about them, you will have to fill us in and keep us in fresh pics

Rode a couple hundred miles of 2-lane roads today and am very happy with the bike so far.

It's interesting that several people knew immediately what it was and had lots of questions. Duh. Just bought the bike and didn't have any answers for them. Hahahaha

Thank you all for the well wishes.

I've been switching between the 650 and the 1000.

Just generally speaking - the 650 is lighter and more nimble and rides rougher and has a slightly shorter seat height than the 1000.

I find the 650 more functional for the two lane roads. I really like those large top-loading aluminum side cases. They are VERY handy.
Does anyone but me think that clam-shell side cases SUCK ???

What else? Oh yeah - on the 1000 - 74 mph indicated = 70 mph true (according to Garmin). The speed sensor (I think) is somehow connected at the wheel - so going up a tooth on the front sprocket doesn't affect the speedometer. Drats.

Stay tuned.

I'm not sure what the "old" 1000 looks like. This is the first year for the 1000 in the USA, right?

I have received a lot of compliments on it already. About half of them say that they really like the color.

And here's another... I REALLY like that orange, and my 650 would have been orange IF it was available...!

(I DO love the green, but as second to....)

Nice...I really like the looks and upgrades to the 2015 models, really nice.

I just scored on a 2014 with 0 miles for $4999 due to a misprint, so, I had to. I'm coming off of a 2014 Yamaha Bolt. Great bike, great everything but...I'm not a cruiser guy.

Still have a KLR which is, like me, a do everything, not the best of any, bike...

Again, great looking bike. I hope it is half the fun I'm having on my new ride.
