Where do you put your inspection sticker?

Since I purchased my Versys out of state I have to get it inspected (despite the fact that it's brand new!) in Virginia.

Where do you recommend putting the inspection sticker on the bike? I've never had a motorcycle before so I'm not sure where I should put it after getting inspected.

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, this is really a totally separate question, but where do you put your registration? I lifted up the seat today and there doesn't really seem to be a good place to put it. Do you just keep it in your wallet?

NJ did away with inspection for bikes, but the sticker used to go on the plate. I think plate or fork leg are the typical spots, but I imagine the state specifies where the sticker Must go, so I recommend you check with the state website. That is, if the person that does the inspection doesn't simply put it on for you.

Florida, Baby... Unsafe at any speed, Florida here. You should see some of the garbage on the roads down here. No vehicle inspections.

Same for me,, but i cover mine with a little square of plexyglass
with 4 little bolts to hold it on. This helps keep little fingers away from the sticker.

I'm in Virginia too and I have to get my out-of-state purchased Versys inspected as well. Just tell the shop to put the sticker on the left fork up behind the fairing so it's not an eyesore and they should be fine with that. That's where they put the sticker on my Ninja's.

No more inspection stickers in Texas. Now you must get it inspected before you can register(renew) it. The inspection station will give you a form to turn in at registration office.When/if LEO "runs" your tag, it will show if your vehicle has been inspected. Also most insurance companies participate in the same way.(your insurance will show valid or otherwise when your tag is "ran")

when i lived in sticker states, i would put it on the left fork tube.

In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?

I am not aware of any such inspections in my state (MN). We had "emissions" testing some years back, and they did away with that too. It all got farmed out to "contractors" and lets say their integrity "varied"....

On the topic though, I always thought it would be neat to have one bike, perhaps a Triumph Bonnie, with the blade/plate on the top of the front fender...

It would no doubt booger up the fine, sophisticated aero-dynamics of a "Versys tho....

NY it goes on the Left fork tube. I took my dads Shadow in for a inspection yesterday. When the guy was all done I offered t put the sticker on as there was a line of people waiting. He said he was required to put it on himself, to make sure I dont take the sticker home and put it on another bike.

Yes - that way nobody can steal the registration at the same time they steal the bike.

I feel sorry for you guys who have to rely on the government to tell you when you need to do maintenance on your motorcycles.

I am amazed at the number of folks who have grown to rely on the inspections to tell them the things they need to do to their vehicles. They won't even replace burnt bulbs prior to showing up for inspection.

Sounds just like welfare and all the other government programs that want to get people reliant on the government.

I put the registration inside a small ziplock and put it under the lining of my helmet.

I think you meant that you feel sorry for those of us who live in a state that finds it necessary to find another way to charge its citizens $12 to get a sticker saying "Yes, you maintain your vehicle and make sure it is in perfect running condition. Good job, boy! Here's a treat...this spiffy little sticker that will sully the appearance of your motorcycle!"

Even when NJ had inspection, it was a joke. At the DMV I used, all they checked were your lights and horn, and your helmet. I used to roll up on a dual sport with motocross tires, open supertrapp, no battery, plastic tank, tiny pathetic excuses for blinkers taillight you've ever seen, mini bicycle rearview etc etc... As long as the blinklers blinked my horn made a noise, and I had reflective tape on my helmet, I rode away with my sticker.

I believe they did away with the inspection right around the time they jacked up motorcycle registration prices. I now pay more to renew the reg on my bikes than I do on my cars. Gotta Love NJ.
