2 weeks today and...

Loving every minute of my new-to-me 2011 Versys 650 . Of all the bikes I have ever owned, this V650 has been the best. Not only is it my first "sport bike", but it inspires a lot of confidence when I ride. I have never felt so natural at riding. Why is that? How is it that this bike supersedes all the cruisers I've owned in the past? I've owned 2x VN750's, a VTX1300C, 2x KLR650's and 2x VN900's. I didn't keep the KLR650's for long. They felt like death traps anytime the wind blew greater than 10 MPH. Yeah, sure, my V will move some with the wind, but not to the point where my butt starts eating the seat. Heck, it scoffs at 30 MPH sustained crosswinds. WHY?!?!?

Anywho, I don't think I'll be going back to cruisers ever. As long as these adventure bikes keep coming, I'll keep riding them.

We had a different name for the type of bike the Versys is when I was growing up...we call it A Standard. And I think it is "The Standard" of what most of us come to look for in a bike after we ride a Versys. Yep we get spoiled.

Or was that look THEN leap?

It's sure not a sports bike but I understand where you are coming from.

I've been calling it an upright sport bike. It's the same riding position as my RZ 350's and those were sport bikes.
