Barkbuster versus factory handguards

Any thoughts or preferences on Barkbusters versus Kaw factory ones? I know the Kawasaki version comes with a higher price tag, but I also have a discount card for 10% off accessories from the dealer I bought my '13 from, so it's not a huge difference. I don't like the big "barkbuster" type, but that's just a sticker, no?

I'm up to about 1600 miles now, still loving the bike! Just put the factory tank bag on; probably small for those who need to carry lots but it works fine for me.

I have BarkBuster Storm's my bike has been down 3 times (at a standstill) with zero damage to the bike and only a minor mark on the plastic hand guard. This is the 2nd bike I have had BarkBusters on and I'm very happy with them.

I know what you mean about the big barkbusters, not the most elegant look for a street bike.

I went with the SW-Motech frames and Kobra guards. Personally I think the sharp lines and fairly aggressive look work well with the Versys. The frame is very beefy so would expect it would provide decent protection. Only concern is the bracket that mounts to the handlebar. Since it has two different orientations that it bolts to the bar and the handguard frame that means two pivot points for the guard to move if you crash. Would have preferred they had a single piece mounting bracket like they've designed for some other bikes.

Which barkbusters????

There are many types - at least in Oz, anyway.

I had a set of barkbuster Storm on an earlier ER6n. They provide very little weather protection, but some (not a lot) damage protection.

I have fitted a set of barkbuster Blizzards to my 2015 v 650. These provide a lot of weather protection but very little damage protection. They are extremely effective when combined with heated grips (Oxford). Definitely a happy chappy.

I don't particularly care what an accessory looks like, as long as it works!

I must disagree they do provide a LOT of damage protection. I have the proof.

I just purchased the 2015 LT with factory guards. Can't plug anything into the 12v acc socket because the factory guard mounts hit it. Put Barkbusters on my 08 and it wasn't an issue.
