Previous Bike??

Curious to see what bike current v owners came from...to start I came off of a 2002 Suzuki Bandit 600. Talk about buzzy! Old carborated GSXr engine that screamed after 8k, but usable only in few situations...it was bike #1 for me - so the versys is a pleasant step up in every category. I nicknamed her FRANKENZUKI because I had to take her apart so many times to keep her running.

My first bike was a '95 Ninja 500 that I bought in '07. I sold it this past March to get my '07 Versys. I wanted something more comfortable to be on for longer periods of time. I couldn't be happier!

First bike was a 91' Kawasaki Ninja 600r. I amazingly have no pics of it.

Second bike was a 89' Ninja 600r.

My father and I bought this fun toy for the beach trips.

I love everything about my Verseys except the looks. I don't like red vehicles, but when you buy used options are limited. 2 of my 3 vehicles have been red, and my bikes...Also the front end of this bike is fugly. But I have gotten to the point in life were I dont really care about the looks.

All of my past bikes are listed in my signature below. I'm not sure why I had the second '85 XL350R for so long but it served me well from 1987 to 2000. I think I can dig up some pictures of my past bikes and some may even be on Super 8 movie film from the '60's and 70's. Yes, I am old and only 16 days away from turning 49. Started riding a minibike when I was only 8 years old so you could say I have some experience around motorcycles.

'87 BMW K75C. Loved the smooth engine, seating position, and overall bike size. It ended with an electrical issue I couldn't fix myself. I had drooled over the Versys writeup in Rider mag and couldn't be happier with the V.

As recently as 3 years ago I had a V-Strom for 2 up touring and was happy with it except that it was ugly by most peoples account including mine and sooo top heavy. Sold it and bought a Suzuki DR650 SE which I still have (personalized super moto tourer). Awsome bike and a keeper. I always thought the V-Strom would have been perfect with some changes and who-da thunk it, Kawasaki built it. As soon as I saw it, I was afraid to go ride one because I always research and wait a year or so before deciding on a new bike because I'm just like that. One day, I told myself "I'll just go ride one" out of curiosity. 2 months later there was one sitting in my garage and it's the best all around street bike I've ever owned. Oh, I don't think i mentioned the 30 or so bikes I owned before the ones mentioned here (mostly off road).

The Versys replaced a Moto Guzzi California EV as the third bike currently in the garage (it is my 39th motorized two wheeler). Of course I have had this sickness since 1956!! :>)-

I had a 76 Yamaha 360 enduro over 25 years ago, then got my mootorcycle legs back on an 09 KLX250s I got in Oct.08. Traded that in for the Versys in July 09.
Glad I got my legs back on a smaller bike--made the transistion to the V fairley smooth.

I probably have the oldest "old" bike.....

The last bike I bought was a 1979 Suzuki TS185. Have had it ever since & restored it a few years ago.
