ROT Rally

Getting down to Austin Friday afternoon. Plan on a long ride Saturday to the three sisters then back to the fair grounds for a little parade action.

Any one else gonna be out at the ROT rally 6/11-6/13?

I won't be there, but I wish I was... Republic Of Texas Biker Rally (ROT Biker Rally) is the Biggest Motorcycle Rally in Texas with more than 60000 participants last year!
Texas is a republic?

Since I live just north of Austin up in Hutto,TX I will think about it. I have never been to ROT because I assumed it was just for Harley riders which I avoid since EVERY HD rider I have met had something negative to say about my 'Jap' bikes.

Whatever!

On the fair grounds - where the ralley is held - yea its 95% Harley's. But downtown 6th street - where will be staying - it's only 70% Harley with 30% Sport bikes.
Just being around that many bikes on the road - its awesome.

Texas was a republic. The tejanos were tricked into joining the union. But with the condition that the flag will fly at the same height as the union flag. There was also a secession clause in the article of incorporation that no other state have.

I made it out to R.O.T. Thursday and Friday night and have some pictures and videos I'll post a link to later. The parade was really fun and it felt weird running red lights and stop signs legally. That alone was worth the $55 ticket price. I plan to head back there tonight when it cools off but may take my truck loaded up with supplies instead of my bike. You can bring in your own food and beer which is the way to go since their prices for everything are absolutely way too high. $5 for a corn dog and $6 for a 16oz. beer. WTF?!

Best way to describe the atmosphere out there is spring break for 40+ year olds. If you like to be around drunk people being silly and having fun, then you will fit right in. If not, then stay home. I have been watching the fun from a distance and been playing it safe as much as possible. Next year I'll be ready and plan to build a motorized couch or other silly looking machine. The place is full of not just bikes but golf carts, ATV's, and other motorized contraptions.

Made it back it one piece. Only saw one other Red V, Friday night. Wasn't able to get close enough to yell hi.
What a party!!!!!!! Have lots of pictures, but none to appropriate to publish here -
You folks living in the Austin/San Antonio area - wow - great part of the state to ride. We took off Saturday morning for a 208 mile loop to Kerrville and back, ended up hitting every little hole in the wall meeting spot, and did closer to 400 miles. Didn't get back to the ralley till 10:30.

One of the nicest places to visit was Albert, Tx. I have never seen post oaks that big before. They had a really nice set up.
