Mountain ride

Took my new [to me] 08 up into the NC mountains today. Left home near Gaffney SC about 8 and returned home at 4. Many miles and smiles in between! Two other CPRs joined me, Charley on his Vstrom and John on his RT1200 Beemer. Took a very round a bout way to Roan Mtn TN and then over to Pineola NC on the Blue Ridge to have lunch at Christa's. The best ribs I've eaten and I've ate a lot!! Rained on us some , no sweat to the V and rode a dirt road that parallels NC 181 [ one of the best all time cycle roads ] back down the mountain and on home. Great ride, great bike and good friends, what more can you want?? Oh yeah----great grub! Averaged 52 mpg even with full throttle between curves---except dirt of course.
I think I like this bike---even more than my Interceptor. Don't tell her I said that!

The CPRs are a group of 4 guys that ride at least once a week and more often if they can. To join the group you must be retired, ride at least 10,000 miles a year and be able to follow us up NC 80 from Marion NC to the Blue Ridge Pkwy. The youngest member is 67 and oldest { me } is 77. Wanta join! Oh what does CPR stand for---Carolina Pro Riders. That's not what you thought, was it??

I will riding my 2008 Versys to Bryson City in August for a 4 day vacation trip . . . This will be my 4th mountain trip . . . Rode a 1990 Harley then a Ducati Multistrada 1000ds twice and had a blast . . . Having a Versys now, I will probably ride some dirt too and do some exploration riding . . . maybe I won't get lost right before dark lol . . . can't wait
