Dunlop Roadsmarts... I'm disappointed...

Gotta say I'm a little disappointed with this rear tire! Just a little over 4k miles & it's worn through. I called cyclegear,
where I bought them & they said no warranty unless you buy one, & I didn't. Oh well, guess what tire I WON'T be
replacing it with...

Now I'm going with the PR2's. Yes, WAY more expensive, but the guy @ cyclegear says he has over 7500 on his PR2's on his
R6. Well, why not. Going for it tomorrow. Rear only though, the front RS on my bike has plenty left. Probably has nothing to
do with how much time it spends in the air...

That's amazing! And the thing that's so messed up about it is this tire is marketed by them to provide extra longevity due to its reinforced middle section. I ride BT016's and get crap mileage, only 3000 or so. But they provide superior grip for the kind of railing I do so I'm OK with that. But if I bought a tire with the expectation it was supposed to last a long time and it looked like this after only 4000 miles...I'd do just like Bear and put it out there then kick to tha curb!

Give me a bit and I will show you my PR2 after 2644 miles. I was using PR2 on rear and PP on the front. The front can go another 3k easily. And I am sure a regular PP rear will get me at least the same mileage. The best part is the PP is $100 OTD VS the PR2 $134 OTD.

Approx 300 miles later

There is a local guy selling on CL Tires straight from Parts Unlimited, for $134 for the rear if you pay cash, and $83 for the PP front. Which I suggest for better traction. The pair worked great for me and the front will go atleast another 3k miles.

Been there, done that bear. After only getting 3300 miles on the stocker rear, I spooned on a Roadsmart. It looked JUST like your pic after 6600 miles. So I guess I did a little better than you!!

I have a Strada on back now and it looks like it might not last as long as the Roadsmart.

Hold the phone. Bridgestone just came out with the BT-023 in two grades . Standard and GT. I can't wait to wear out my stockers to try these.

Bears tire wore thru way too soon, look at the tread pattern in the center at the end of the cord. Then look at Todds tire in post 6, that tire is smooth and no cord yet. Thats what I'm used to seeing.

Stockers lasted me 10 000km
I have a pair of RoadSmarts ready to be put on the bike right now.
I really, really expect them to last at least 10K or more. Beside this one, reports I've read about RS were pretty good. Maybe it's a faulty tire?

Bear have you thought about Conti Motion's ?
I am surprised at the photos of the PR2, I have them on my Speed Triple and am getting great wear, with the HP of the Triple it eats tires normally but these are lasting

I have been pretty happy with my RoadSmarts. I will try something else next time though. I really like the way the feel and have been happy with their life. It is better than the Stradas I ran. I liked the Stradas, but I could wear them out pretty damn quickly. Right now I have Angels on the radar!

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!
