where's the "report thread" button?

In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?

You mean this isn't a forum where people come to find "great deals" on cell phones? I had no idea?!

It's been going on for a long time. This forum gets far more spam than any other forum I've even used.

look for the yellow bar above each post
to the far right there is a white triangle, with a red border.. press that and it pull up the spam report page. you only need report the same spammer once, but it may help if you point out that the spammer has done multiple posts

the spam load on this forum seems to me to be remarkably low (not as low as the versys.co.uk site where there is virtually no spam). this site has however been 'discovered' by spam bots who keep posting the mobile phone spam.

unlike other sites there seems to be precious few individual spammers doing link posting.

If we just ignore them (IE, don't open them or click on them) maybe they will go away.

that may work for the mobile phone/shoe spam bots who are trying to sell direct to gullable people who believe their spiel, and don't have any site URL

however some spammers are in reality trying to leach of the host site by placing links and trackbacks which improve their rankings in search algolrhythms. some are placed by spambots, some are place by individuals suckered in with the earn money online ruse.

depeding on how popular (well visited0 the site is determines the type of spam you get. this site doesn't have large traffic flows so its not attractive to the trackback / link spammer. I suspect that in part the lack of traffic also works for the .co.uk site.

in my books that doesn't mean you should let spam lie, as the site is indexed by search engines, that means the spam content is still there, and it creates the impression for potential spammers that this site doesn't care. the spammer can search for sites which have previous known spam (eg search on email addresses.

the spammers crave attention from net users, so following links encourages them.. so don't follow spam links

theres other things that can be done such as limiting signatures until a certain threshold of postings and / or time has expired. many spammers deposit their payload inside signatures.

I know they are a scam but for fun I replied to their ad one day for an IPAD for $200.00. They immediately replied and said they had them in stock ready to ship. All I had to do was get a Western Union Money Order and send it to them and they would ship it right out.

I then replied to them that they were a scam and to kiss my donkey (that was cleaned up for posting here). They wrote back saying they have listed their company on NYSE (which is a lie) so that made them legit and they were offended.

So I wrote back and told them I really didn't give a crap how offended they were and if they are so legit, why don't they put a verifiable address and phone number in their spam?

I haven't heard a word from them since then.
