I'm sure it's been discussed, but I'm wondering of anyone here runs a 170 on the back? I need a new back tire and can get a really good deal on a conti motion but they only have a 170, apparently the bike can handle it....but I want to know if there's any downside?
Lots of us run 170/50 on the back. It opens up a bunch of adventure-touring tire options. It makes minor changes in the virtual gearing and handling setups, as well as odometer accuracy, but nothing significant.
EDIT: Whoops, my dyslexia kicking in... 150/70, not the other way around...
It's a 170/60/17 so I'm assuming the profile is still the same, just a slightly wider tire. It shouldn't really affect the speedo, I'm more concerned about how the handling will be affected. I only ride on the street.
170/60 is 1/2" taller in inflated diameter and geared about 1.9912385503783 % taller than 160/60. Inflated width is 7.09" compared to 6.77". It's also 1 pound heavier at 13 lbs.
