Do you have to get a Dealer to cut spare Kaw keys??

Home Depot wouldn't, or at least the chubby guy on the second shift would not cut any kind of key for several people waiting. Maybe I'll try again on the first shift. We had to wait near 30 minutes for him to tell us that. He may be right, but... you might find one good knowledgeable person on the second shift, and it wasn't him, ha ha.

A locksmith can do it for you in less than 5 min...

I also purchased the blanks from the FOR SALE section of the forum, and a local hardware store cut them with no issues. Was $8 for 2 blanks, and a couple more dollars to get them cut.

Some locksmiths may have the blanks, otherwise you will have to order online, or through your dealer.

Just make sure you get spares no matter how much hassle it seems. The alternative is not pretty when you lose the only key you have.

I got my blank key from this forum, although I can't find the thread listed anymore. I was just surprised Home Depot's $50k key making robot machine couldn't do it. Robots aren't as smart as humans I guess.

The old school pantograph key cutters are better any way...if you still have a family hardware store.

Always went to Ace Hardware. Even with the steel blanks. Never an issue...

The one dollar key cutter? Lol, isn't that ironic. Now we are talking :-) $6 total, cut key with blank!

Can't remember how much but it was cheap. I figured if anybody was going to ruin their wheel on a steel key I would rather it be them than a mom and pop store.
