Universal helmet locks

I am thinking of getting myself a great stocking stuff this Christmas, a new helmet lock for my 14 Versys.

Has anyone purchased and installed one of these yet? Where did you put it? I see the ones I am looking at are for 7/8 tubes, anything on the Versys that size? I don't really want to put it on the handlebars.

Your pics or advice is greatly appreciated!

I lock my helmet in the top case. The case can go on any bike with a rack, so its univeesal right?

My '12 came with a free helmet lock accessible when you take the seat off, hang helmet via D rings and put seat back on.

I've got a "Helmet Guardian", which has worked very well on my Versys. It came on another motorcycle but I transferred it to the V because having to take the seat off to lock your helmet is ridiculous. You can lock two helmets up, or a helmet and something else, so that's a nice option.

It gets crazier when you try to get youstuffr key between the side case & the frame, or have stuff tied to the seat.

I just loop a 'locking cable' (old ski-lock) thru the chin-bar and the passenger hand-holds....

with a $100+ drift720 plus a $100+ bluetooth head set all on a one of a kind $100+ helmet i just find it easier to carry my helmet with me >.>
if i have all that taken off my helmet (mega rare) ive used the under seat lock thing (stock does suck modded isnt to bad) or strap it to the passenger handle. if someone really needs it bad enough there going to take the time to steal it i guess they really need it.
so far in 20 years of riding ive only had one helmet stolen....and that was at a track......

This is my plan as well. Plus, I can run it through the back vent of my jacket too.

Which is exactly why I never use it. Taking the seat off
is a pain in the ass because I can never get it back on
without a lot of fiddling which makes me look silly on a
crowded street.

I have the givi sidebags and find it easier to just carry a cable
lock in there.

I also sometimes carry a 1.8m cable lock. But I only carry/use it when I know I have to lock both helmet and jacket to the bike. Helmet is still hung on the bike helmet lock and cable Is just extra security when I have to leave the bike + jacket all day.

I must have a dozen of those little Mickey Mouse locks that come with every new piece I buy. It never even occurred to me to use them on the bikes. Thanks for that thought!

After having a couple of helmet stolen/trashed (kids cut the strap to take the helmet) I either lock it in the top case or take it with me.

On another board I go to a guy came back to find someone had pooped in his helmet. Really BAD neighborhood I guess.

Or was that look THEN leap?

... which is WHY I lock mine thru the chin-bar. Now they have to work a bit to get it off, and as it's sitting on the seat, opening DOWN, very hard to crap in....
