Price for accessories?

I'm looking at getting the 2015 650 (LT version) and was wondering if anyone had any idea what a dealer might charge for accessories? I would really like to get the wired port to charge my cell phone or GPS and was thinking that I'd try to haggle that into the price when I do purchase in the spring. Just wondering what something like that would cost?

FREE is a very good price...the parts don't cost diddley and it's less than an hour's..heck less than a 1/2 hour's work...make 'em throw it in for free...if the '15's are like the 2nd gen. there's already additional wiring connections up front under the left side fairing...you just need to pick out the type of connection you want..buy it and install as per manufacturer of said connection...here's a forum entry on the outlet I mentioned for gps hook-up...

Welcome from another Ottawa Versys rider.

I find bike prices are less in Montreal than Ottawa due to more competitive marketplace and it only costs $15 to rent a motorcycle trailer from UHaul if you supply your own tie down straps, got mine at Princess Auto. As an example right now you can pick up a 2011 in Montreal Kijiji for $4000 with 5000km. There are several competing Kawasaki dealers in Montreal in close proximity to one another vs just the single dealer in Ottawa.

I wired in a flush mounted 12v dash socket for a ~$10 cost to provide a power source for my GPS and phone.
12v Dash Socket
12v Inline Blade Fuse

There are also lots of handle bar mount kits on ebay in a similar price range. I would wire anything like this direct to battery with an appropriate sized fuse and NOT into the wiring harness. You can use a basic automotive relay if you wish to make a switched power supply that only operates with engine on or key on although this is not really necessary with a GPS or phone.

It's best to use the included tether wire with heated gear rather than an outlet. This is because when you dismount and forget to unplug there is no damage with a tether wire but there could be with an outlet.

Every bike I have bought new I have negotiated a discount on all accessories I buy for the bike. I've been able to negotiate 20 - 25% off MSRP.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I've been reading about heated grips as well - I think I'll pester the dealer here to try and get discounts on the outlet and grips with the purchase of the bike. I suspect that they won't move much on price but accessories should be fair game.

If not, I'm not a total slouch when it comes to doing these sorts of things on my own. That said, the idea of pulling off fairings and ripping grips off a brand new bike is enough to make me queasy.

Accessories are usually cheaper aftermarket and online. For instance after market heated grips are $60-$80 (Oxford or other) but Kawasaki OEM grips are $200 and identical quality.

CYCLE GEAR down here sells a kit for $9.99, and it's an easy install....
