PL447 vs. PLR450...whats the difference?

So after looking around online for a month or so, I'm curious if anyone has an answer for me. What is the difference between the 2007-2009 givi monokey rack and the 2010-2014 givi rack. All I can really see is the included turn signal hardware being different.

Has anyone looked at the differences? I haven't found any PLR450's for a decent price, and I've found quite a few PL447's for like $100 bucks.

If it works with a bit of welding and some ingenuity- I'd rather just mess around with it and take my chances.

I'm not an expert or anything..but I believe the grab rails were changed from gen.1 to gen.2...I'm guessing the attachment points for them changed too..and considering that's where the frames are going to attach..that's where the difference is...try checking parts schematics at parts stores online for the grab rail areas and see if you can see any differences there...I installed the 450's and the tail lights need to move to accommodate the bags..which is why you get the additional hardware...

ps..I remember wondering the same thing when I was looking at bags and frames...I just went with the flow and got the frames listed for my bike and it's year...lol..never learned to weld

The rear grab handles on the bike are different, hence the attachment method is different.

Are the grab handles the only difference? Seems like it could be a pretty easy mod to add the correct bracket to overcome that.

I hade a Givi Top box rack for a 2008 but could not fit it on a 2010. The 2010 rack is quite different.

Yeah, from the pics, it looks like the top box mounts are very different. I was hoping the side cases are more similar apart from the differences Where they relate to the top case/grab handles.

Just installed my second set of the PL447 racks. When I got the first (in Canada) I wondered WHY the piece stuck up below the handguards, but didn't worry (they came w/ my saddlebags), and left it alone. They work OK w/out....

On the recent AZ set, I see that you can buy a hardware kit that attaches that piece to where the handguards attach, but I don't know whether I'll do that or not.

Looked at the 450 pics, but can't really see any great difference.
