Exclamation May 21-23 Rally in Lewisburg, WV

The Brier Inn will be the base motel. Please speak up; if there is sufficient interest, we can likely get a discount on a block of rooms.

Greenbrier State Forest will be cabin / tenting central. Again, please speak up, those interested in sharing cabins can garner considerable savings.

Participants:

Moteling:
sharrison56
blipco
vp7 (still considering)

Cabin:
WindWalker (still considering)
Shatrat
bob shafer (looking to slit a room)

Tenting
Spklbuk

I would love to make it if I can get a long enough vacation at that time. It takes at least 2 days to ride there from here. I tried it with a car last year.

Moon Dust Gray Versys, with lots of farkles.

Vlast

P.S. I bought my Versys to support my photography hobby.

Just a FYI the Brier Inn is now a Quality inn, you can get a discount if you are a member of AARP, or AMA.You can also book thru the Choice hotels website to see avalibilty. In June a rally is being held at this inn so we have been in contact with management there. There is also a super 8 across the street, its clean and cheap.just thought I'd pass along the info. have fun

I just found out that I will be on training most of April and in June I will be heading over to a warmer and dustier place for about 6 months (work related), so if I get a chance to go to WV it most likely will be the only long trip of the year for me, here's crossing my fingers.

I love WV and to ride some of those roads on the motorbike would be awesome.

Thanks maddjack. Are you sure you won't come do a preview to your June meet, might be fun on the Versys (since I suspect you will ride your other mount in June)?

Heah Bob, if you make it I am sure you will get the longest travel to the rally award (probably a round of applause).

Not me! No offense, but you are of the wrong gender. Are any of you women, by any chance?

It's only about 4 hours from Columbus, OH, so I'm hoping to get down there for at least a day, schedule depending, of course.

Anybody that needs a place to stay when coming or going, let me know. We have a spare bedroom if you aren't allergic to cats.

I do plan on being there.. Would the mileage shipping my bike to NC count for the award

Bob

Splitting the fee on a cabin provides substantial savings. They are generally cost prohibitive otherwise for individuals. They sleep in the ballpark of 6 people. Nearly as cheap as tenting it and a whole lot more weather resistant.

I'd share on a cabin if we can firm commitments as they require a deposit upfront.

I am in for a cabin if I will be going, but I won't find out until the end of April or so. May be a last minute call.

Ok this is probably a silly question... but having been on dirt bikes and dual sports all my life, I'm completely new to this kind of stuff. What is a Rally? What do we do there? I'm guessing just ride around?

I got alot of options that weekend - Pine Barrens Enduro in NJ., an AMA Dual Sport ride in Ohio, and this. I love having so many ride options, life is great!

This looks to be about 6hrs from me via the quickest route, however there is the likes of Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway that are sorta on the way. That surely adds a few hours. But I've always felt that the fulfillment should come from the journey, not the destination. This all does sound interesting, but having never ridden this much road before has me wondering how I'm gonna fair? I've done plenty of 100 mile days on my dirt bikes which I truly enjoy. I guess I need to get out soon and go for a long ride... problem is the snow is being persistant. I tried to get out yesterday as the roads are pretty much clear, but my driveway is fairly long and has a nice layer of packed snow. The V just doesn't go at all. The Husky on the other hand maded short work of it.

If I decide to go I would be more than happy to split a cabin to help keep the cost down.

Still on the fence and hopefully by the time you guys need to firm things up I'll be able to jump to one side or the other.
