Heading to Ushuaia. . .

. . . but not on the Versys. I will taking a '07 KLR for this trip. The plan is to cross into Mexico on November 18th at Matamoros and make the ferry from Panama to Colombia on December 1st. Ushuaia in early January.

Sounds fantastic. Going solo? I'd love to see progress reports along the way...

Cheers, Jeff

Three of us one (me) 67 one 47 and his kid 17. Three KLR '07 (mine) '99 (his) and '06 (the kid's). We only have four months to get there and back so we can't fool around.

Sounds like a great adventure in the making. If (God forbid), one or more of you find it necessary to return early for some unforeseen reason, I would be willing to fly down, pay my fair share of expenses and assist you in getting at least one of the bikes back home. I am semi-retired, young (only 64), and this is what I do now for a living.

You ride old motorcycles on bad roads for a living? PM me your contact info. We were just going to abandon bike or sell cheap if we could if someone has to bail.

In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?

Not that I know of. There are some countries with restriction on sale of foreign registered bikes as I understand it.

Tour de South

If this is the early beginning of a ride report, I'm sure most of us would love to see a pic of the bikes to wet our whissles on a ride most only dream of.

I will try to post up a photo of the three bikes. The last one won't be here 'til Friday. Y'all will laugh. Total purchase price for the bikes, $6k . . . that is for all three!

You have a wonderful trip ahead of you. Done this leg (but from Panama to Guayaquil in Equador) as a part of an around-the-the-world-trip in a car 25 years ago. Can't wait to see your pics...

Anyone with enough time, money and a large chase team can do the Ewan McGregor "Long Way Round". What adventure is that? We may be a little green with envy, but for sure not laughing. Looking forward to following along!

I do not remember exactly, have to consult my diary, but I think approx. 3 days. The car was in a container on a container ship which took only a few "selected" passengers. Quite an experience I'd say. Will get back to you here with the shipping time...
