Question 2009 Versys pricing question

So I just got back from a local dealership and the sales person said he would sell a new 09' Versys to me for $6,675.35 OTD. Is this average, or do you think I can still talk them down some more? I'm leaning more towards the latter of the two.

I got mine for $6374 out-the-door back in July ($5999.00 sticker). My dealer is currently selling the same bike for $5785.00, which would be $61xx.xx out-the-door.

Of course, you'd have to come to Arizona to get it.

Not a great price, but not bad either. If you can't get them to knock any off, wait a month(or 2) and try again. The dealers are not selling bikes in the dead of winter and will be motivated as months roll toward Spring.

That's what I mean by desperation on the dealers part!

Just bought mine last week for $6300 out the door.
That would be out here in Oregon.

If you guys are wondering I live in Washington. hmm, so it seems like I could probably talk them down some more then. And the bike is green, that blue is just plain ugly in my opinion.

Be happy, you folks. The Versys, (2008 Model) in Uruguay, South America, has a 0 mile price of U$ 15000.00., - out the door, completely standard, nothing added. I have been looking at it with much affection but cannot justify the price. I will have to wait to get back to the USA to achieve my dream of owning one.

In Argentina, I have compared prices, and they have the same tag + 23% Government vehicle Tax........

Having said that, I cant wait to get back home........the Versys is a good ride and extremely comfortable for recently test driven Andean gravel road riding, not off the beaten track, but can take punishment.

I have been riding the Africa Twins (two up) and TransAlp (one up) for the last 8 years (different years, 03,05,07,09)and have been extremely impressed with the reliability, seat position, comfort, response, power outputs and maintenance but neither of these bikes are available in the USA.

I am confident the Versys will adequately replace my Honda's that have carried me, faithfully, all around South America and Africa without inconveniences.

My only complaint at this stage would be the size of the tank. I would install a bigger tank for long distance riding (i.e South American, African or Australian hauls)

In which country do you live ?

I live in Canada, and recently got a bit better deal that that on a 09 (6600 otd can$).
I would assume that the US price (IF you live in the us) has always being lower than the canadian one ?

I bought mine back in September for $6400, me thinks that price is a bit high...especially since the 2010's are out already.

A question like this can't be answered concisely, to many variables based on tax and license.

The only constants are: price, shipping, set-up and dealer document fee.

In Phoenix we pay 8.1% tax and for the Versys with a $6799 MSRP a license fee of ~$180

A better question may be how much is the dealer charging before tax and license.

We have dealers here that charge $300 doc fees and $600-$700 for S & H.

Absurd......

They can sell you or advertise a Versys for $5199 and then they add another $1K in extra charges...some deal!

They are charging $6,000 before taxes and all that stuff, so after all the taxes, doc. fees, etc, they said $6,675. I know I can find cheaper. Up here in Washington it's the slowest time of the year for dealerships and yet they won't cut me a break. They're getting greedy, but I guess that could go both ways, haha.

I got my '09 Versys in CA for $6600 OTD in late December.

I think $6500 OTD right now would be a great price.

Recent buy

I just ordered a green '09 a week ago from the warehouse for $6284 without sales tax. I'm in the midwest just south of Kansas City. I found two other dealers within 100 miles that had them priced at $5999. One of the dealers told me that the $5999 price was invoice less factory rebates. I paid extra to support my local dealer plus he more than made up for it by selling me the side bags 40% off and a 4 year warrenty for 1/2 price. I started my search on cycletrader.com. I did a quick search with a 250mi radius of Yakima and this came up with a price of $6149 from these guys:

Experience Powersports
Toll Free: (888) 395-9380
12268 North Frontage Rd East
Moses Lake, WA 98837

I think if you don't mind a drive you could do better. Or do as I did and use it as a bargaining chip on a good price for extras. If a dealer has a bike on his floor plan he might be willing to negotiate. I was in a dealership today and the salesman mentioned that they thought there was going to be some additional factory incentives after the first of Feb.

Good luck.
