I put A set of 705s on the KLR a couple of months ago. I have been surprised how well they are performing to date, I have about 2,000 miles on them and the wear is barely noticeable. They are a 80/20 tire and replaced a set of Michelin T63 knobbies that I bought to off road with but ended up wearing out on the pavement. I was very unsure of the Shinko tires as there had been some failures with the 700 reported but enough of the "Old Hands" at the KLR650 forum chimed in in the favor on the 705 I took a chance. They seem the be wearing well and stick good on road...off road they are no T63!

Or was that look THEN leap?

Watch for incipient tread separations between the tread blocks....

Some people have had bad luck with the 705's. Others (like myself) found them to be a great tire on the KLR. I ran them for at least 3 years, and they worked very well for my use (mostly in town commuting). I don't know if I'd use them on the Versys as I like to get tires in the proper size, etc, but I liked them on the KLR.
