new styling twist on my Versys

he guys,

had to throw a few of my new parts i made on my bike to see what it's going to look like.

it all started with how poor the headlight didn't match up with the cowling, I couldn't stand it.

so without spending much time or money i did what i could to change the look more towards a sport bike.

I painted the tank, cowls, and front fender blue. Had to match the vinyl i was going to use.

parts i made are from ABS plastic sheets, then everything was vinyl wrapped.

the silver and yellow stripes are vinyl too.

i even have storage under my seat cowl.

still going to paint the wheels something special, and the brake calipers, but i'll do that in the spring.

just had to show someone.

dave

Wouldn't it have been easier to buy the Ninja 650?

Dave, did you go with new plastic or paint the black stuff you had earlier?

Actually the seat cowl was the very first thing i made.
then started playing around with colors and just loved this combo.

so then i did the rest of the bike to match it.
that seems a little backwards. ( never said i was bright)

that seat can be put right back to stock in just a few minutes.
all the material is still there, just tucked in behind my rest.

i wrapped all the plastic.

it looks just like paint, you can't really tell the difference.

this is the brand i used;
http://www.rvinyl.com/wrapkits/vinyl/solidcolors.htm

real happy working with this stuff.
as you can see i did some tricky parts, and it all laid down with out a wrinkle.

i wrapped the fender extender and my license plate bracket.

had to put a Versys sticker back on my bike too, got tired of everyone asking ''what the heck is that''. :-)

Nice work Davey boy ..........I also like the silver stripe , and as you say , it not for everyone , but as long as you like it that is all that really matters . Good on you for even attempting the custom job . At least it is one of a kind ...........just like those super rare green verseys

Sweeet! What color rally stripe should I put on my greenie? Thinking silver might work there, too.

use vinyl wrap for the wider stripe.
it deals with the compound curves.

mine is 2 1/2'' wide.
i don't think i would try anything any wider because of the compound curve, and you need a straight line when
your done.

wrap, will handle going around that complete tank, but you would have to heat and pull it to do so.
so i straight line wouldn't have to come into play then.

i think you would have trouble using sign vinyl.
but sign vinyl is fine for the pin striping.
