Thoughts on riding the V...

I spent last weekend riding my V on the 2 lane twisty roads in northern Wisconsin, having lots of fun. During my ride, I had time to re-discover how the V almost seems to read my mind as to where I want my tires to be while riding through the turns at a brisk pace. Its as close to mental telepathy between man and machine that I've come to ever.

Then, later on Sunday, I was in my car, driving some friends to the airport, on a two lane road. My car was slightly drifting to the centerline. Without thinking, I automatically tried to use my "mental telepathy" to correct, and move to the right, to re-center my vehicle in my lane. The car did not respond. Stupid car. I had to actually "wake up" and move the steering wheel to the right a bit to keep from crossing the center line.

My passengers remained quiet. I did not offer any explanation to them. They are not motorcyclists, they wouldn't get it.

I think that was part of it. When on my V, I vary my placement it in my lane very accurately through almost imperceptible countersteering actions. My thought-to-countersteer-to-bike movement has become automatic, with almost no conscious thought.

This is likely what I automatically tried to do (for a moment) while driving my car.

Joe, that's one of the prettiest pictures anyone has ever posted in this forum. I'm sure you have that for medical purposes only.
