Any Versys Riders Ever Try A Street Triple?

no versys here in California... don't know if I can wait for them to come here for maybe 6 months, or so... was wondering if anyone on a versys has ridden a Triumph Street Triple 675 and can shed some light on the two bikes... I know the V has better gas mileage, but how do the two stack up in other areas... will be riding the bike to and from work (20 mi. round trip) and some weekend twisties... thanks for any feedback.

tapar1, check out the article in the April 2008 "Motorcyclist" mag. The article starts on page 76 and is titled "1-2-3-4". It compares the Versys, Street Triple, BMW Xmoto and the GSX650F. Very good and complete article on the +s and -s of each ride.

I have no experience with the Triumph, but so far I love my Versys. I have only had it a month and riden it only about 500 miles.

I owned 2 Speed Triples and I did get to test out a buddies Street Triple...It's an excellent bike. Good power band and handles better than the V....but I wouldn't want to do any long days on it.

I had a 1996 Speed Triple and loved it, unless I was riding more than about 60 miles. Triumphs are well made and wonderful bikes, and nothing beats the wailing howl of a triple spun up!!

This month's Motorcycle Consumer News has a comparo between the Street Triple and the Aprilla Shiver. They seemed less than enthusiastic about the triple (especially the suspension and handling), though they liked the motor.

Here's that article:

I liked it.

In a nutshell, it says to get a Versys if you can only have one bike, a Speed Triple if you need\want something with balls, and avoid the other 2.
