U lock fixed on the undertail

Hi All,

Lately I am thinking of fixing an U lock on the undertail because of four reasons:
1. I don't have / want a top case
2. My alarm took the place of the U lock under the seat
3. I can't attach my 12 mm/1.2 meter long chain on the bike when driving
4. I've installed a rear hugger so the undertail is protected from projections

I would like to know if anyone did this "mod" and can post some pics, or even get suggestions.

And yes I have a brake lock...

Thx

Kawasaki makes one that mounts underneath the seat, so that it remains protected when not in use. Probably a little pricier than a straight Kryptonite or similar lock, but then it will save you the hassle of making another mount.

They're all over ebay.

Oren has his alarm taking up that space (see item #2). The question is where else would make a good place to attach a U-lock when it's not in use.

I really haven't thought about that, I haven't found it necessary to lock my bikes here.

Ah, yes, thank you Gustavo, and my apologies to oren for being an idiot. I apparently had a synapse misfire while reading the list and obviously missed that very important point.

I haven't seen such a mod so I'm speaking from complete ignorance here.
If you mount a U-lock undertail there MIGHT be a clearance issue with your hugger when/if you bottom the suspension. I'm not saying it's likely, just something to think about. Have you considered moving the alarm? There may be more people here that have experience mounting one of those elsewhere so you can use the original U-Lock mount under the seat.
