Swapping out the bumble bee.

Hey all, I'm considering swapping out my 2012 Versys (yellow/black)
with matching factory (givi) sidecases and a givi windscreen
for a wee-strom. It has about 3800 miles on it and has never
been dropped.

I know heresy (i'm ducking now).

I like the bike, but just haven't been able to get comfortable on the
seat for more than 10 minutes. Everything else? Great! The seat?
Miserable enough to make 40 mile rides painful. Rode LA to Ventura
last weekend and pretty much couldn't wait to get off.

So I'm throwing this out to ask any idea what might be a fair value?

I can really only justify this if I can do a pretty much straight up trade.

Thanks.

I know what you mean about the seat. I compare everything to our Gold Wing. It has a seat like a Barca Lounger.

Still, I ended up with a Seat Concepts foam/cover set and that made a HUGE difference.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Try an airhawk, cheaper then a new seat and can be used on multiple bikes. I could not bare the stock seat for more then 20 minutes, got the airhawk and instant 1000 mile+ days comfortable.. of course YMMV... I'd do that first before trading for the wee.. course I'm biased but love the new 1000

I had a Wee Strom a few years ago. Same seat issues as the Versys. Both were solved for me with a Sargant Seat. $386 and fully refundable within 30 days of use if you don't like it.

Cheaper than buying a whole bike...

Funny I also refer to my 2012 as the Bumble Bee!

I hear you on the seat. I sent mine away to Baldwin Saddles to be customized. I have a 34" inseam. Also I Installed a set highway pegs, foot lowering kit and anti-vibration riser all from Motowerks. Just finished a an 1100 mile circle tour of Lake Superior. Was quite comfy.

All the other suggestions on different seats are good too. Do your research on what suits you best and your budget.

All the best

Are you sure the vstrom seat suits you?

I would not ditch a bike over a seat issue.

Seems like some of you needed to take a longer test ride before you bought the bike. What I didn't like about the stock seat was that it put me in one position and didn't let me move around. Same thing I found during a test ride on the Goldwing.

My custom seat solved that problem for me and now the Versys is probably my most comfortable bike.
