Nice little trip to Austin, TX

Took the Versys on a business trip to Austin, TX (about 240 miles the route I took). It was my longest ride in the 1 1/2 year I've her. She worked flawlessly on the highway and was fun around town. More than enough power to pass several cars on the short passing lanes. Topped her out on couple flat stretches, though is was a little less than i've done before due to full saddle & top bags.

On my trip home Friday afternoon, it was 72 degrees. I never, ever thought I could take an afternoon ride in Texas in mid-July and actually get a little chilly in my mesh jacket. Crazy, but a very nice relief. I was surprised I only saw 4-5 bikes the whole trip, especially considering the cooler weather.

I filled up with gas in Lampases and rode the rest of the way home - 3 1/2 hours. I was stubborn and did not stop at all, so I did get little pucker butt, even with a gel stadium cushion. My next big purchase may be a different seat.

Really enjoyed the ride and now I've got the itch to do what you guys do taking multiple-day trips and real adventures.

I see Hill Country in your future. Hey, wait, I see it in mine too! (again)

Way to go!

I've ridden my KLR on some shorter rides around North Texas, such as Jacksboro and Granbury. I even trailered my bike TO Houston then rode home to Grand Prairie.

I hope to do longer rides once I get the Versys. Maybe the Hill Country, Galveston and SE Oklahoma. I'm hoping the Versys will be a better road worthy/tourer than the KLR; it kind of "beats me up" on long rides.
