In a bind - Need a rear axle quick - Pay handsomely

OK guys here's my situation.

I need to get my hands on a rear axle for a 2012 versys. The part # is 41068-0054. I'm supposed to be leaving on a bike trip Friday the 18th and the local dealer can't get me one till the 22nd.

Anybody know of a wrecked versys (2007-2012) where I can get my hands on one?

Will pay handsomely!

My stupid mistake for accidentally throwing it out in the trash so willing to pay for my mistake.

Anybody help a brother out?

Why didn't I think of eBay.

Found one in Quebec and he's shipping it to me on Tuesday via overnight.

I'll have it Tuesday!

I wish it was an interesting story. The reality is that I just did something stupid.

I decided I was going to save a few bucks and order tires online. I figured no big deal I'll just take the wheels off myself and get the local guy to mount the new rubber.

Took everything apart last Saturday and my recycling box is close to the bike. Pulled the rear axle and adjuster out from the right and set it in the recycling box thinking to myself "i'll just set this here for a minute". I did that last Saturday. Dropped the wheels off and they were supposed to be done that day. As it turns out they screwed up and didn't get them back to me until Friday night that just passed. My garbage day is Wednesday and the axle was still in the recycling box (with new papers thrown on top by the kids) and out to the curb it went.........

If I had gotten the wheels back when I was supposed to this wouldn't have happened.

Lesson learned...... all parts that come off the bike go on the shelf where they won't go missing.

Total cost to get the axle to me from Quebec with overnight shipping worked out to just over $52. A lot better than I was expecting.

Joe, Thats a honest statement. How much did it cost you to find it out it was cheaper for others to do the work?

I wrench on a lot of bikes. It's amazing how some parts can escape..... it's sorta like the cosmic reality that you will never get all of your socks back from the washing machine. Where do they go? No one knows.
