1st Impressions

Hi, just thought I would give my 1st impressions of the Versys which I picked up last weekend. Its an 08 with 10.5k. It was from a dealer and I did not get a test ride as I did not have time, it was at the back of the showroom and as it was 40 miles form home I did not want a return journey just to try it out. The trip home was windy and on the Motorway, I had the fairing vibes and jarring suspension but overall it was OK. After reading this and other forums I put rubber edging where I thought the vibes were from, softened the suspension and shimmed the engine mounts whilst installing SW Motech crash bars. First sunny day later and out for a proper try out. All I can say is it felt brilliant around the flowing bends of the country roads near where I live (the Helmsley TT is just down the road, famous if from Yorkshire). I have cured the worst of the vibes and the suspension is much better although still work to be done. The engine is a peach, plenty of torque and a decent hit of power, ideal 50-80 mph just what I need. Its dimensions are just right for flicking through bends but stable enough on the straights. A bit more leg room would be nice for longer journeys but overall a great little package and glad I chose it over the V-strom :
Regards,
Martin

Martin - the Motowerk footpeg lowering blocks work great for me (and MANY others)!
