Front airbox spigot?

Have my airbox off on my 2009 to do maintenance and desmog. Getting ready to put it on and I notice at the front of the airbox there appears to be a 5/16 dia. spigot. I don't remember a hose being attached to it.

Can anyone tell me if it should be capped off if I'm desmogging? Or if there's a hose I missed when I pulled the airbox off?

Nothing goes on it... It's on the unfiltered side of the airbox, where air is admitted beside both snorkel inlets.

Do you think I need to put a foam filter on it of some sorts to get dirt from getting sucked straight in?

Hahaha. No. You don't need to stick a filter in the inlet snorkels either. That's what the air filter is there for.

If it's the "spigot" I think you're referring to, mine has a hose connected. Not sure where exactly it comes from at the moment. I have a 2011 California model. Sorry I don't have pics...

No. The mentioned spigot is at the front of airbox, between both inlet snorkels.

I think the one you're referring to is at the rear bottom of the airbox with hose going to cannister. I capped that spigot.
