Post 010 Versys, Argggg

Went to the IMS tonight and stopped by the Kawa display...Looked around and hmmm, no V's Couple of ER6N looking things, but no V, heresy. So I ask a rep "where or where is the new Versys". He points to the back corner of the display floor and points to this. I almost s***. These pics are not great but to me the new V in person is simply "UGLY". Yeah I know, some think our V's are fugly, but this is worse. I'm sure it shares the same architecture as our V's do as far as engine, suspension. But the whole front end looks like a cross between Darth Vader's helmet and a ER6N front end on acid...Way to plasticky and way to edgy, for my taste anyway. And the 2 different finishes on the tank and side covers don't help much. The passenger grab bars are way to big and look it.
I really like the way the old V looks and the different colors are way cool, but in person this new bike doesn't look...More ER looking if you ask me and I'm not a big Er fan.
Glad I went, just saved myself 7 large thinking this might be better...I'll keep the BlueBomb for awhile

If I new what I was doing, I wouldn't still be working

I think you right. From the JP vendors the Yamaha are the best looking once.

I think in a way KW did not decide what they want from Versys.

They moved from conservative to toy style design hoping they will get more young riders to try it.

I am happy with the 2008 style and colors but lets see how the new design will do.

I`m wondering if the new mirrors would be better, mine came loose again today so I`ll have to figure something out for next year.

Moon Dust Gray Versys, with lots of farkles.

Vlast

P.S. I bought my Versys to support my photography hobby.

Has anyone tried out the seat on the 2010 V? I was wondering if it was every bit as un-comfy as my 2008 seat.

I haven't seen one in person but I don't think it looks that bad. I do like my red 08 better and do think it the 2010 looks a bit KTM-ish. If I was looking to buy something today the new V would still be at the top of the list.

Plan on keeping my 08 for a long long time.

Threw a leg over one at the IMS in Dallas last weekend. I don't think they improved anything over the 09. Not at all crazy about the color or new plastic. I, too, was hoping for an improved seat. Seems to me they mentioned something about making the passenger more comfortable but nothing about the butt in the drivers seat. Who buys these things? The guys riding them. Shouldn't our asses be the ones they are worrying about? Waaa, waaaa, waaaa! Glad I bought an 09 green meany. J.

I have not seen the 2010 in person yet... Our bike show around here will be Dec 4-6 in Long Beach...

So far, I kind of like the 2010 looks... If I can sell my 09 Green Versys without loosing too much, I might think about a upgrade to 2010...

I will wait till I see the 2010 before making any decision...

I think the new look isn't too bad, we need only a bit of time to digest it.
Frame, engine, suspensions etc.. aren't too different by ours V.
But my dream is Aprilia Pegaso two cylinders, but Aprilia don't wont make it ...

Bye

Nobody thinks that something is so easy like who is totally unable to do it.

Kawasaki Versys 07 Orange
Ex Aprilia Pegaso 96 Blue
Ex Suzuki DR 350 91

That's the way I felt too Turbo, was even gonna trade in the Blue Bomb, but after seeing it real time, it's not something I could go out to the garage and look at...My V blows the ol hair back everytime I look at her...Every bike I own has to do that

If I new what I was doing, I wouldn't still be working

The front looks like it WAS digested and what came out was the result.

I saw it and I feel exactly the same as Contractor.
I was bummed the '10 announcement and pics out 1 week after I bought my blue '09. But now I'm glad I got my '09 instead!

I should say the "pictures don't do the '10 justice..."

They plastic is smaller up front and makes the bike look smaller. I like my '08 because the plastic shoulders off of the tank make it look like a much bigger bike than a 650. I may like the 10 headlight better, but I'd have to see it in person.

I like the new look but I'm worried about aftermarket windscreens. Doesn't look like the same mounts so hopefully Givi etc... will be able to provide a sufficient screen? The old design looks to lend itself to better screen options. Maybe someone will sort it all out. I'm tempted to buy that nice blue 09 model near where I live. Kaw supposedly re-worked the mirrows so they may be wider now, not sure? That would be nice and the additional vibe control, but the $500 jump in price is no good. I tell ya, inflation is starting to really hit with motorcycles. Suzuki had two price increases in the same 2009 model year.
