Happy Trails or Touratech pannier racks?

I am generally not a fan of happy trails products as they tend to look very home made, but their Versys pannier rack does not seem half bad and the price is right. Any reason to spend the extra $ 200 on the Touratech? Better quality or just a more expensive name?

I don't have an answer to your question... I do run HT Oyhee boxes and have been quite happy with them... I don't see them as reflecting a homemade look but of course I'm the guy who chose them.

I purchased Givi.

I have the same rack and cases from when I purchased my Versys. Still works well. I will sat that the Givi top case mounting plate will eventually break and needs to be welded.

p.s. I rolled 90,000 a while ago.

Cheers!

I just went ahead and ordered the Touratech rack and a set of Ortlieb dry bags to go with it. The more I looked into the HT rack the less I liked it. Now I just need some crash bars and highway pegs! Too bad I have the Cali model.... I have heard the Givi bars fit just fine. I guess I'll find out.

You can remove your "Cali" stuff, by removing the canister and then routing the lines, and here's how to route the various lines under your gas tank:
