versys at big bend national park

just wondering if any fellow v riders have taken the v there and if not has anyone ridden there on a different bike. Would the v be a capable bike there with more off road worthy tires.

In recent years I've ridden down to Big Bend from Seattle on a R1150RT, F650GS and a KLR, I think your Versys would be an ideal steed for Big Bend. The stock tires would be fine for the main roads but if you are going to ride in Terlingua Ranch you would need to step up to dual sport tires. The main roads into Terlingua Ranch are well maintained but the side roads are bad, I would avoid them.

Distanzas would be fine but they have a soft compound, I only got 3000 miles on mine.
Here what I did, http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums...ead.php?t=4471

I was sooo close to doing Big Bend on the V this summer, but ran out of time... or more accurately I skipped it to spend some time up neat Tyler, TX.
Let me know how it is though.... cause I am going back there sometime for sure.
