NFG Seeking MORE advice

Hi all,
Recently picked up my new Versys. Quite familiar with autos, yet new to everything moto. Questions....
1) Do you think getting the warranty plan is a good idea? If so, for how long? General recommendations would be nice.

2) How in the heck do you wash the bike? I am nervous about jacking up something electrical/mechanical. Also general recommendations would be nice, things like power washers, hand washing, things not to spray, covers/precautions that need to be made prior to wash, etc.

Thanks!

Hand Wash! light spray is ok (think mist) but NO power washing or JET ends on the hose.

i use a cover and make sure that i keep it as dry as possible. i ride it alot so the cover is off all the time. just make sure you get the moisture out from time to time

as for the warrenty this bike has been ultra reliable it seems so i don't feel that there is a need for and extended one.

also have fun! and ride it alot as first. any warranty issues should show themselves early.

No extended warranty and no power washing. Ride it, oil it, maintain it. It will not dissapoint.

Checked out the extended warranty when I bought my bike. Can't remember the $$ amount but it seemed quite high and I passed on it. These bikes have a great service life and I don't think you would get much use out of it.

Yes, I do power wash! Have done that for years at the car wash with my bikes. I just make sure I stay away from the wheel bearing/axle areas. Don't blast under the tank and just use common sense and it'll be fine. It's an easy way to have a clean bike!

Installing a hugger and a front fender extension helps a lot in keeping it clean.
