Noisy??? - Question for the masses

I cant seem to get used to the noisy engine on my recently got.. new to me.. 08.

Ive never heard what its "supposed" to sound like and havent come across any others since the purchase... so I have to ask the "sound" question...

The engine seems to almost "knock"... a little louder on the right side.. more at the top of the motor... Is this normal???? W/ 3K miles on it, Id hate to think the engine was abused and is going south... Hoping everyone tells me that its normal.. and the engines are noisy...

Hmmmmm? Have had mine for almost 2 years, no knock that I can hear on mine. It's a pretty quiet motor from my experience. Only 3K miles on yours too?
Make sure your oil level is OK and if it is I would have a shop look at and listen to it.

No Noticable Knock

I'd agree with VersysBob.

I've had my '08 since April of 2008, got just over 7K Mi. Never noticed any knocking. If youve got stock pipes, you may just not be used to hearing as much from the engine, as the bike is very quite compared to most others.

Check the oil!

Best of luck.

Almost sounds like the typical Kawasaki cam chain. These can be adjusted, but before i did anything i would let a reputable mechanic listen to it. Save you a bunch of stress and time. Most places the service manager and or mechanic will actually come out and listen to it while your there and give you their opinion.
Good luck, the V is a great bike!!
