Realistic purchase cost in Canada

Hi,
I live in SW Ontario and seriously consider buying a 2009 Versys.
Can anyone clue me in what is a fair price to pay, new, out the door ?
Straight deal, no trade-in.

Thank you,
slant

Here's a decent deal on a grey 2009 for $7629 (+ taxes, not sure if PDI is included) in Sarnia.

I paid about 7800 out the door on an 08, but that was with taxes, financing ****, etc... I probably got scammed on the added warranty but meh.

Alberta though and sticker price was 6500.

I just bought a 2009 for $8136 ($7200 + tax) OTD from a dealer in central Ontario. That was the lowest quote I received. Three other dealers offered just over $8400 OTD. I sent emails out to every Kawi dealer within a 100 km distance and told them I was a serious buyer looking for a 2009 and would be purchasing with a couple of weeks and wanted to know their OTD price. I also let them know I was contacting other dealers within a certain radius. I received quite a few replies with very fair quotes...it was easy and painless. They're definitely eager to move their stock.

non current is a deal

I'd find a dealer with lots in stock and offer to buy next spring.... I paid 6999 plus pdi for a new, year-old one, last year. There's the same warranty just another year older and versys hasn't changed since it's introduction.

Keep in mind that a dealer has a free floor plan for the first couple of months , then he has to finance them and carry (pay interest) over the winter till sales pick up in the spring again...............use this as a negotiation point.

First off,
I want to thank all of you for your input(s).
Realising that with the relatively low price, there is limited play for negotiation.
But what pissed me off.... the dealer was not interested in my 7 year old FZ1.
Well, maybe it makes sense. All Demand-driven.
Cash price out the door would have been $$$ 8161 Can.
after some rebate.
Making arrangements during the winter and concluding the purchase in spring
seems the best advise.
Again thanks to all and I'll be hanging around this friendly place.

Sarnia is close to me, I am in Belle River.
7629 + Taxes and most likely PDI versus my local dealer's offer of
List $ 6998+ Taxes & PDI , minus $260 rebate
$ 8161

There's another silver 2009 in Bradford, north of Toronto at a " *** NEW LOWER PRICE *** " of $7299.
http://www.autotrader.ca/new_cars_Mo...7910&r=ontario

I paid only a total of about $6470 including PDI and taxes for a new leftover 2007 in April 2008, + $450 to have it transported from Goulet Moto Sport in Ste-Therese near Montreal Quebec.

There's a silver or green 2009 for $5995.00 + PDI and taxes at Motos Illimitées in Terrebonne Quebec. They can probably have it shipped out too. Toll free # 1-866-867-7191

that's about what I paid for mine in Montreal. At this time of year, it's much easier to deal pricing when they know they will be stuck with the bike for winter. Instead of shipping, you could travel to Montreal and ride it back. Your first 1000km would be done

I want to thank you for that additional info.
It all helps.
As of now, I might buy in mid winter, since I am not desperate for a new machine.
It seems I'll (have to) keep my trusty 2002 Yamaha FZ1.
Damned high Insurance rates in Canada.
I envy my american friends.
It seems they insure 3 bikes for what I pay for one.
And I have a clean record

Just renewed my KLR insurance here in Alberta for $315, and my Versys insurance in Arizona for $188US, NO collision either place.

Yeah Matt, I think I saw you in Mt Uniacke the other day. First 09 grey one I saw so far.

I paid $8000 (PDI Etc Etc Etc included) + HST in New Brunswick. I feel kinda ripped off after hearing all these great deals. It was in early summer though

Hey Matt,

I guess I should have waited my gray one cost $9000 (out the door) in June, and now Freedom Cycle sells it for 7869 (tag price) but who knows how low they would go to get it out the door.

All in all I've seen 3 or 4 versys in Halifax, one red, one blue parked at the docks and a green and gray leaving the dealership. I wouldn't mind getting together with some of the Versys' in the area.

Trailslapper, it could have been me in Mt Uniacki I was there on Sunday about 3 weeks ago.

Moon Dust Gray Versys, with lots of farkles.

Vlast

P.S. I bought my Versys to support my photography hobby.

I'd kill for rates like that. It seems you might be a Snow-Bird, keeping a bike in Arizona.
The best of both worlds.

Even though I'm here in Ohio, it should apply in the Great White North as well.

The best time to by a motorcycle is around the end of the month and in the off season. I'd wait until the end of October and deal.
